Many things to share!

[livejournal.com profile] neifile7 has shared her postcard story. Imagine our surprise when a bunch of us began to receive postcards from Italy with fic on them. :D The background, postcards and story are here:

Luna(cy) di Miele, or the Honeymoon Code

The story was written before Martha apparently chucked old Tom and ran off with Mickey instead, so think of it as an AU.

[livejournal.com profile] phaetonschariot has made a fanvid in exchange for my [livejournal.com profile] help_haiti donation. I asked for an ode to Jack's coat and subjected her to 80s Who music. (80s Who as in Daltrey, not Doctor.) Do you know how hard it is to find songs about coats? It's from Ianto's POV and it's AWESOME.

Don't Let Go The Coat YAYS!

[livejournal.com profile] huskyfriends has written me John/Jack (you know I don't have an OTP but they are my O(sex)P!) for a fic meme.

Honey, I'm Home

Coffee tiem!

I'm not doing one of those end-of-the-year rec posts. I'm sure to leave someone out!

So I'll do a thank you post instead. (AND I'm re-writing the whole thing because LJ hates "LJ user" code. *THWAP*)

BETAZ: To everyone who allowed me to stick my fingers in your frosting and beta-read more than 60 stories in 2009, THANK YOU. I'm looking at you, nancybrown, andreth47, amand_r, cruentum, copperbadge, neifile7, cookiesofkarma, stuffphile, verasteine, iamshadow, golden_d and the Yuletide writers I can't mention yet.  I don't rec your stuff afterward because it's a rule, I do it because it's great.

Cheers to andreth47 for coming up with the whole naughty Porn Battle concept, and crue for jumping in to co-host, and everyone else for taking part.

Thank you to amand_r for bringing sexy back with [livejournal.com profile] touchyerwood .

My thanks to snaxcident and the rest of the Askverse crew for making me laugh so much, and xtricks and the Torchwood Three RP company for making me think.

AND I want to publicly snuggle my Torchwood Secret Santa for being INCREDIBLY AWESOME. <3 <3 <3

The story written for me, Wonderful Life, has everything I love in fic: great dialogue, a little drunkiness, and HOT THREESOME ACTION.

lionessvalenti, you're brilliant for coming up with the [livejournal.com profile] twsecretsanta  exchange. There isn't a bad story in the bunch.

Like John Cleese, I'm ringing in 2010 with "a song in my heart, a skip in my walk and a hair of the dog", and I'm adding a faintly horrifying song cover by William Shatner.  *TOASTS YOU*

I was not writing-inspired today, so made smoochy icons instead.

See, normally I won't talk about food stuff unless I've tried something and want to share. But I'm not trying this.

First of all, the KFC Double Down is only available in two places (thankfully) and secondly, just... no. Mille grazie to the Onion's AV Club for reviewing it for us!

"Surely even the sick fucks at Kentucky Fried Chicken... would not be deranged enough to make a sandwich that substituted thick, greasy, deep-fried chicken-breast patties for buns."

And other random things which are tasty instead of... whatever the hell that is:

The X-Files Porn Battle is ON!  Prompts being taken now. :D

Beta pimp:
[livejournal.com profile] copperbadge wrote Supernatural fic. And it's Dean/Castiel for grate yays.

RP pimp!:
If you like cracky RP -- and by God, who doesn't -- [livejournal.com profile] solidfoamsoul has pointed out [livejournal.com profile] time_and_crack for Doctor Who/Torchwood RPers.

Well.

So, I was tampering with a TARDIS pic last night and trying to stick Torchwood members and maybe Napoleon (Bonaparte, not Dynamite)  in to make the Porn Battle header graphic, and LOL'ing on Twitter about how much I suck at Photoshop, when[livejournal.com profile] bluejeans07  offered to help out. (Go look at her journal header. It's bodacious.)

I've been PWNED! :D  I can only make LOL!graphics which are supposed to be ridic.

I'll post the graphic tomorrow to link. It's freaking awesome.

[livejournal.com profile] laurab1  also made a really nice promo banner, with awesome t-shirt Jack, which you can check out here.

Artists, man.

All of my fandoms are related, d00ds.

It was Ianto's birthday yesterday. [profile] ask_aboutcoffee  had a bit of a mishap involving a stray bullet which might have been meant for... everyone who unfortunately surprised him without notice on the big day. (Note to self: He does not like screaming/confetti cannons. He likes to be in on plans. Does this shock you? Yeah, no.)

Over 1,000 comments. WTF. How did we do this RP for months? We thought nobody would be interested after we desocked. Um. Okay!

ETA:   If you're totally lost:  Askverse on Fanlore Wiki

TODAY is James Marsters' birthday and fans are celebrating the news that he'll have a "significant story arc" on upcoming BSG prequel series Caprica.  I'ma have to watch that now. Frankly, I was planning on it anyway, since Jane Espenson of BtVS fame is writing and William B. Davis -  The Cigarette Smoking Man from the X-Files(!) is to play the Minister of Defense. Plus, Eric Stoltz and Esai Morales and Cylons? WIN ALL AROUND, REALLY.

It looks awesome )

James will be portraying a lethal, dangerous and unpredictable terrorist leader. Right, he's typecast. I don't care. Why do you think I watched Torchwood for the first time?

Caprica is a stand-alone series, but if you like BSG, you probably know [livejournal.com profile] dashakay's fic. If you were ever in X-Files fandom, you definitely do. You can find it at [livejournal.com profile] secretprobation

I'm pretty sure Caprica is not going to disappoint me even though Dollhouse did.

To add, the Torchwood/Doctor Who Porn Battle will be hosted at Nick's [livejournal.com profile] cyus fic journal this weekend. Bring your A game.  :D

Daft Punk. Tasty. )

Aaaaah!  Work ate me whole today.  But now things have lifted off the shoulders a bit and I'd like to rec more things I've beta-read. Damn. It's been my week for reading nice things. (Yes, we can have nice things!)

[livejournal.com profile] iamshadow's story features great characterisation and a completely unique setup. It has spoilers for CoE, but you'll like this even if you didn't watch CoE but know the MAJOR plot developments. You'll like it even more if you didn't really dig the major plot developments.  :D

Title: Shift
Author:[livejournal.com profile] iamshadow
Pairings: Gen, mentioning canon pairings
Rating: PG

And Anya has delivered delightfully darkly kinky Ianto.  In my personal fanon, Ianto is a kinkyboots. SRSLY.

Title: Imago
Author: [livejournal.com profile] neifile7
Pairings: Jack/Ianto, references to Ianto/Lisa
Rating: Explicit
Ingredients: Cross-dressing and bondage, with undertones of knife- and blood-play, d/s.   Metal fetishism.
Disclaimer: Oh, really, not.

(I liked her disclaimer!)

In case you missed all of the KINKY FIC that's been posted this week, [livejournal.com profile] spiderine  has created a lovely list

First, recs!

Nick, ([livejournal.com profile] cruentum  ) has a new tale up on his fic journal.  It's Jack, it's Ianto, it's a date... but it's not a hearts-and-flowers date.  Drippy pizza, dirty sheets and messy sex.

Title: Pizza Mouth
Author: [livejournal.com profile] cyus
Rating: NC-17
Length: 5200 words

In other news,  [personal profile] amand_r  has posted an incredibly OUCH and beautifully-written story.

Title:
When Taken Apart
Author: [personal profile] amand_r
Characters: Jack. Ianto
Warnings: post-CoE—character death leik woah (this is an autopsy!fic)

Secondly, Nick and I are gearing up for a poll on topics for the next Porn Battle.  If you have other suggestions, please add them here!

Thirdly, um. There is no thirdly.  Here's a video which is AWESOME.  Profit!  (Did I do that "profit!" meme wrong? Probably.)

I'm Your Man by Charmax - A celebration of media clichés made for the International Day Of Femslash. It's... sexy.

Wow. I've just read some good stuff.

If you've not checked out [livejournal.com profile] angstslashhope 's  Not with a bang or a whimper (Five places Ianto's story went next), it's AWESOME. How did I miss this?

[livejournal.com profile] rm  and [livejournal.com profile] kalichan  are continuing Enough To Go By (YAYS!) and it will now have TEN parts. Is it Christmas already?

[livejournal.com profile] filthgoblin  has written smexy  Jack/Rhys fic! I <3 mah rare pairings. They just captivate the hell out of me.

And I danced around while wearing headphones this morning. Sort of like this:

Dancing: the vertical expression of a horizontal desire legalized by music. )

But not to Cake. To Intergalactic by the Beastie Boys. It was inappropriately enthusiastic dancing. think I might have pulled something.  Like a muscle. If I'd danced like that in a club, I guarantee you I wouldn't have pulled anything or anybody who wasn't blind.

ETA: Thank you to [livejournal.com profile] torchwood_house  for reccing Askverse last night. We went a little bit... wild.

[livejournal.com profile] filthgoblin  has done a podfic of Fearnought. She's so awesome to do this because I begged her to. And she's Welsh, so her accent is lovely.   *dies of awesome*

See, the real point of podfic? BOTH HANDS FREE. So you can type (or drink wine and nom dinner)  while you listen to it!  That is what you do when you read NC-17 fic, obviously.

I have a new header image. Thanks for the Pimm's, [livejournal.com profile] copperbadge. The tagline is from an old Löwenbräu advert. LOLZ  - Much love,  Foxy.

...and [livejournal.com profile] neifile7  has given me GWENDAIDS:  (This will not... make sense unless you're an Askworld person.)  :D

Fairy Cakes!  )

ETA:  A lovely picspam from [livejournal.com profile] myutopia . Pretty!Dana Scully is pretty. Feast your eyes.

Ohhh, you're all going to love this one. You're going to love it HARD*.  Especially if you watched Children of Earth Part I. You did, right? I know you did. YOU DID. :D

Title: Price
Author: [personal profile] sam_storyteller  ([livejournal.com profile] copperbadge )
Spoilers: Children of Earth, Day One
Rating: Strong PG-13? Ianto/Gwen/Jack.
Summary: Surely, given that Ianto had made his own peace with Jack and Gwen's bizarre sexless love affair, they had known they were having it.

I, uh... didn't actually finish my story. Plot: Owen dies, right? (OMG) And he slowly loses more and more of his sensory perception; the scent of autumn bonfires, the feel of a rose petal against his wrist, the taste of pepperami.  He develops tunnel vision.

So Tosh (OMG the angst!) uses the BethHelmet to secretly upload Owen's psyche into the Hub's mainframe. OHAI, HAL At first he's grr, so angry at her for talking him into this. He becomes even more detached than he was in his decaying form and spends most of his time porning online (like a typical Torchwood fan), THEN he flips out and starts jonesing on tech power like Lawnmower Man and mayhem ensues. AND THEN he has an epiphany + redemption + Tosh dies and is uploaded too + The Doctor takes them to the Silence In The Library/Forest of the Dead planet and they live sappily ever after, but probably with different partners because I just can't ship them. Maybe so after Owen's epiphany, though. It would have been like Digital Shanshu.

See, it would have taken ages to read that whole saga. Look how much time I just saved you.  TARDIS BITE SIZED!

So, I didn't finish mine, but [livejournal.com profile] copperbadge  ([info]sam_storyteller) did, and of course it's awesome (and I know this already because I helped to beta-read it).  It has a wonderful plot and TAROT and the Torchwood team and Sarah Jane and things I'm not going to spoil.  Do go read Sing Morning Out Of Night. :)

I also did cover art for a really nice Andy/Ianto story by [profile] the_silver_sunA Year Out Of Time. Hope the author likes it. *crosses fingers*

Roar.

Interesting meta posted today by [livejournal.com profile] verasteine about ways to approach conveying (possibly triggery) emotion in fic

Less serious: You know you're getting older when you come across a site listing the Classic Hits of the 90's and it makes you LOL.

Remember when Sean Combs was still Puff Daddy?  Whoah. Put the brakes on, HG Wells!

But there are more than a few songs I'd completely forgotten listed here and I've had fun exploring.

Cool - for Buffy fans if you haven't seen this. Buffy Summers > Edward Cullen.  Well, duh.

Big huge video under the cut )

I stole this from an article in iO9 blaming BtVS for turning vampires into huge wussies. Thoughts?

It was hotter than two weasels fornicating in a woolen sock today and I was a guest at an engagement party featuring a romantic hog roast. Yes, they roasted an entire pig on a spit.  It wasn't what I thought, because it was butterflied and flat. You know that scene in Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom when Kate Capshaw's laid out in the cage over the fire pit

http://pics.livejournal.com/51stcenturyfox/pic/0005aqkc

LIKE THAT.  And there was no apple in its mouth. (There was no apple in Kate's mouth, either.)

Note to the loser in the blue boat shoes: pulling the ends of my tied spaghetti straps undone isn't funny the third time. It isn't even funny the first time. It's fercockt. Humidity tries my patience.

Nice things:

[livejournal.com profile] catvampcrazines  has written a Jack/Donna fluff fic for me for sponsoring her on Red Nose Day! <3

I've prodded [livejournal.com profile] neifile7 onto twitter. Because I am a bad influence. (No, but really, this is a nice thing!)

ETA: Speaking of twitter,[personal profile] used_songs  has launched a Torchwood "Twibe". Join,Y/Y?

Whoa! [livejournal.com profile] laurab1 has surprised me with art for Two Moon Tango. I am beyond jazzed!

Click the snip to see the full version. I'd like to make it into a full-on comic, at a commenter's suggestion. It is a pulp-y sort o' tale.
51stcenturyfox: (Jack in Black)
Yesterday I took hungover neighbors to breakfast and then the beach at 7am, twittered, finished my first Doctor Who fic (it's more than a little cracky because: bodyswap!) read great recced fic, watched Dollhouse and scoffed a few drinks. My husband slept ALL DAY for no real reason. (Well, he did party with the neighbors the night before.) He returned to consciousness to have dinner and watch 30 minutes of Blazing Saddles. So I'm sure he's going to be a quotaholic all day on Sunday because 30 minutes of ammo is all he needs.

BIG yays to [livejournal.com profile] catvampcrazines and her most cool idea: the Sisterhood of the Traveling David Tennant Calendar. The calendar will be traveling from fan to fan over towards England/Australia/New Zealand/Belgium/US/Canada first and over to the US in the latter half of the year. She's even done a video sendoff.

[livejournal.com profile] oneloveonelight has a seriously cracked Jack/Ianto mpreg ficlet

Unrelated to anything, I read an old X-Files fic from back in the day and was reminded of the once popular fic term "FBI aardvarking"

And sheesh... the [livejournal.com profile] ontd Yo Dawg Xzibit meme insanity was... insane. But this one wins it for me:

51stcenturyfox: (That was unexpected)
I'm too lazy busy to finish my WIPs so I'm reccin'.
