Interesting meta posted today by [livejournal.com profile] verasteine about ways to approach conveying (possibly triggery) emotion in fic

Less serious: You know you're getting older when you come across a site listing the Classic Hits of the 90's and it makes you LOL.

Remember when Sean Combs was still Puff Daddy?  Whoah. Put the brakes on, HG Wells!

But there are more than a few songs I'd completely forgotten listed here and I've had fun exploring.

Cool - for Buffy fans if you haven't seen this. Buffy Summers > Edward Cullen.  Well, duh.

I stole this from an article in iO9 blaming BtVS for turning vampires into huge wussies. Thoughts?

I'm sorry, I would have more thinky thoughts about the whole vampire thing (ON COME ON. ORIGINAL DRACULA WAS EFFIN' EMO, DUDE. IF HE WAS ALIVE RIGHT NOW, HE'D BE THE LEAD SINGER OF LINKIN' PARK OR SOMETHING.), but I am too distracted by James Marsters in that crinkly red shirt, givin' me the eye.

...I'll be in my bunk.

Is that the one where Spike gets all happy? Because that ep rules.

That's the one! Spike gets happy. Wes and Fred get drunk and sloppy. Gunn pees on Angel's chair.

And Lorne sings "Don't Leave Me This Way."

This is one of television's golden hours, clearly.

(Using Prada icon because of your bitchin Prada icon.)

Haahahaha. Jack is like wearing Prada. I like it because you can also misconstrue it as a valley girl saying, "Jack is, like, wearing Prada." Because he ISN'T.

I love that ep, esp for the moment drunk!wes and fred are standing in front of the elevator for a while before they remember to push the button.

Like fer sure, fer sure!

You know, I totally don't remember that moment, but I'll take your word for it.

Oh, that series of episodes with non-corporeal Spike was so STUPID. < /tangent >

I was actually disappointed with a great deal of that season until Illyria came along. I was sad to see Fred die, but OTOH, Illyria was FUN.

Hey that vid was clever. This reminds me that I need to pick up my Buffy rewatching again after I slacked mid-1st season a bit because it was all so highschool.

My favorite ep was The Pack. I half-watched 1x11 today. Didn't know the season was short, so almost done with the 1st season after all. BBuz tyeah, The Pack for all the gory implications and the freakedout consent issues and weird stuff that must have been going on in Xander's head after

I never watched season one of the Bufster, but I have just cruised through seasons 2 through 4, and have to say for all the criticisms (both mine and the ones in the io9.com article, it's totally better than 99% of shows.

There is plenty of staking and fighting of vampires. Romance? Yez! But lots of Kung Fu and street fighting violence. (I still haven't seen seasons 5, 7 and I'll prolly get the comic books, too!

It is fun to read how relevant Buffy still is to so many people and resonating through the culture.

Personally, I think vampires are really one dimensional when they are only violent monsters. That is a huge reason why Stoker's novel is so great. The Count is violent and a monster, but he also has depth and complexity.

I love how Blowfish has given you an essay (ILU :D) but all I can say is DAMMIT I LOL AT TWILIGHT NOW. Because Edward Cullen is a stalker.

And I don't care what the critics say, I still love Spike/Buffy. Even if, technically, I haven't seen any yet. It's all been produced through fanfiction. :D

However, with my new earnings I shall soon be able to afford S4! :D

*Leaves now*
