*Pimp hat on*

There's a porn battle on at, well, [livejournal.com profile] dwtw_pornbattle The prompt post is here. Go check it out and add some prompts while there's still time. It's not a weekend/targeted topic thing like the sort Nick and I do... [profile] joanne_c explains the dealio at the prompt link. :)

[livejournal.com profile] copperbadge has 10 drabbles this morning: The Harkness Variations. III and VIII are my favorites.

And the [livejournal.com profile] writerinadrawer 400-word stories are up and ready for your votes. The prompts were "someone needing a favor" and "a foreign city".

I'm writing things, and I need to have my eyebrows waxed because I... procrastinate. My usual place went under (thanks, economy) so I will probably get my pockets picked at Aveda.

Dinner tonight: fajitas! Found some great peppers and I have a massive flat piece o' beef to slice up so it's time for a sizzly pan of yum.

I couldn't actually make a list of things I found funny in the penultimate episode of Children of Earth, so this is really about something... else. It's about the way fandom reacts to things like this.

Spoilers, obviously.

I can't be the only one  )

You know, I was considering dipping my toe into Indiana Jones fandom more than I have. Writing some fic, etc.  But I think they take themselves too seriously.

(And yes,  I know what they really mean.)  ;)  But that second line made me LOL.

I've been nominated for the CoT Awards in the New Who (humour, threesome) and Torchwood (slash pairings and PWP) categories. To whomever nominated Asleep At The Switch, Rude Introduction and Mission of Mercy, thank you very, very kindly.  Mission is sort of plot without (much) porn, but hey.  (Actually, to add: I don't even know. Character study? Hmm.)

ETA: This song by Peter Bjorn and John (on a Cinemax upcoming films trailer) woke me up this morning.  It's stuck in my HEAD in a huge way. I like it.

Nothing To Worry About )

Have been discussing Torchwood S3 now resembling the X-Files mytharc:

Producer Peter Bennett describes the overall plot of the week-long, five-episode arc as "about a government that did a deal with aliens back in the '60s, and they're now dealing with the consequences of that deal when the sins of their past come back to haunt them," according to Digital Spy.

Remember: There's a lot to love about "Torchwood," especially for fans of the early days of "The X-Files," when it was more of a clever horror anthology series and the alien conspiracy had yet to take over the plot.

Torchwood, please. Don't let an alien conspiracy take over the plot.

Somewhat related: I was watching the Angel ep Destiny this morning (because there really is no better way to wake up than to watch two hot vampires fight over a fake Holy Grail full of Mountain Dew) I had to reflect on this:

People freaking out and writing words on the wall in blood is common visual shorthand for "somebody's flipped the hell out, Manson-style".  Not sure if that falls under Room Full of Crazy or Couldn't Find A Pen

I like the way Angel did it better than Torchwood. It's true. Nobody ever changes the damn toner cartridge!

Had to love that the Angel "grail" had been found in Petra. Nice nod to Indiana Jones. Angel = high crack.
