All of my fandoms are related, d00ds.

It was Ianto's birthday yesterday. [profile] ask_aboutcoffee  had a bit of a mishap involving a stray bullet which might have been meant for... everyone who unfortunately surprised him without notice on the big day. (Note to self: He does not like screaming/confetti cannons. He likes to be in on plans. Does this shock you? Yeah, no.)

Over 1,000 comments. WTF. How did we do this RP for months? We thought nobody would be interested after we desocked. Um. Okay!

TODAY is James Marsters' birthday and fans are celebrating the news that he'll have a "significant story arc" on upcoming BSG prequel series Caprica.  I'ma have to watch that now. Frankly, I was planning on it anyway, since Jane Espenson of BtVS fame is writing and William B. Davis -  The Cigarette Smoking Man from the X-Files(!) is to play the Minister of Defense. Plus, Eric Stoltz and Esai Morales and Cylons? WIN ALL AROUND, REALLY.

James will be portraying a lethal, dangerous and unpredictable terrorist leader. Right, he's typecast. I don't care. Why do you think I watched Torchwood for the first time?

Caprica is a stand-alone series, but if you like BSG, you probably know [livejournal.com profile] dashakay's fic. If you were ever in X-Files fandom, you definitely do. You can find it at [livejournal.com profile] secretprobation

I'm pretty sure Caprica is not going to disappoint me even though Dollhouse did.

To add, the Torchwood/Doctor Who Porn Battle will be hosted at Nick's [livejournal.com profile] cyus fic journal this weekend. Bring your A game.  :D

I do!

I've done one sequel to a story, but the first one was very short, and so was the second.

I think I'm incapable of writing something that's over 5k words. It would need... structure and stuff. Arrgh. Hard. :P :D

If you look through my fic journal, you'll see everything's around 1500 words, 3000 at most, with only a few exceptions.

I'd love to write something long and plotty like Sam's Cartographer's Craft, but I seem incapable of developing major story arcs beyond the characters' individual journeys. It's emotional exploration that I always seem to default back to. I don't seem to think of a cool alien or mystery or dangerous situation to throw everyone into. I just think of human interactions.

Same here... that makes total sense.

I think the prospect of doing many chapters is also intimidating. I'm not sure how people post chapters without having written the whole thing. What if you want to chaaaaaaange direction in the middle of the story? :D

For the TARDIS Big Bang, I had an outline for an Owen-centric story, but really, I couldn't push it past 3,000 words. I tried, but everything else felt like filler. Guess it takes a skill I just don't have. Yet. If ever!)

I've done that before, but I was writing a serial that developed as I wrote it. I've compared it to a soap opera before. It's very different to a multi-chapter story with an aim in mind, because it was driven by the character development, not plot.

Hey, some stories want to be shorter. I thought this one was going to be longer, but it still ended up more than double the length I expected. I have no idea how people just churn out 50K epics!

Oh, I don't either!

I could write 50k words, but most of them would be a;ljsdf or iuewrer or *headdesk* or something like that.
