Plus, on LJ, people use their journals, usually. So it doesn't feel like you're leaving a note on an archive and they won't see it (which is probably silly, but...)
No, not silly. I've had that happen. I didn't realize AFF.net (I was naive just starting out and was terrified to post anything NC17 on LJ at the time) required you to opt-in to receive notifications of reviews, so I had a few hanging out there for ages before someone told me (on LJ) that they'd left a review, and then I went and found them. Very embarrassing to have not responded before then. Of course, afaik, there's no way to respond directly to reviews there, so if the person doesn't leave an email addy or something, you can't reply anyway.
