That's part of why I was unhappy with trying to do it in chat. When I get a beta, especially a thorough one (which I need) the first thing I have to do is sit down, sulk a bit, whine about my unappreciated glory, and have a cup of tea.
I love my betas, have shared a bed with both my primary betas, in fact. They've played with my kid. I know that they are giving up their time to help me not look the fool in public because they love me and I love them, and yet, first step is always sulk. And I can't do that if she's on the other end of the line waiting for me, as it were.
But one of the things that I like about Google Docs is that it's real time. I make a correction and I don't have to worry about which beta has which version, or getting a response back and seeing that I've already fixed it and I get completely tickled when one says, "This is too subtle. add exposition." and the other says "No, leave it be. I got it and your target audience will too." I've actually been involved in exchanges like that.
