Heh, I seem to be very much with the majority on all three questions!
I have used Googledocs for having my fics beta'd but I don't like it much. I prefer to get my beta's and then sit and think about them, rather than having to make decisions about them while she's waiting for me! I'm not good at making decisions. *g*
On the other hand, if something needs to be beta'd quickly and we're both around, then Googledocs is a godsend because we can have literal conversations there.
That's part of why I was unhappy with trying to do it in chat. When I get a beta, especially a thorough one (which I need) the first thing I have to do is sit down, sulk a bit, whine about my unappreciated glory, and have a cup of tea.
I love my betas, have shared a bed with both my primary betas, in fact. They've played with my kid. I know that they are giving up their time to help me not look the fool in public because they love me and I love them, and yet, first step is always sulk. And I can't do that if she's on the other end of the line waiting for me, as it were.
But one of the things that I like about Google Docs is that it's real time. I make a correction and I don't have to worry about which beta has which version, or getting a response back and seeing that I've already fixed it and I get completely tickled when one says, "This is too subtle. add exposition." and the other says "No, leave it be. I got it and your target audience will too." I've actually been involved in exchanges like that.
