Ok then. NOW it's Friday.

I exuberantly titled an email "TGIF!" yesterday and facepalmed when I discovered I'd jumped the gun.  I... couldn't wait.  This has been a long week and it just needs to come to a relaxing close. Seriously.

I owe betaz! I haven't forgotten. I am writing a story too, and keep being distracted by interesting stuff on my f-list.  Stop it! :D

Some things:

- The Onion's AV Club reports on more documentaries about fans and fandom - there are things coming out focusing on the public's relationship with Arrested Development, Calvin and Hobbes and others. I might like to see  The Achievers: The Story Of The Lebowski Fans.  Ah, The Big Lebowski.    "Smokey, this is not 'Nam. This is bowling. There are rules."

-  [livejournal.com profile] copperbadge  is putting his space opera (yeah!) up for us to read and would like feedback. The Valet of Anize starts here.

-  I'm drinking Pepsi Cola THROWBACK. Made with natural sugar!  I'm not really certain I like this, but I normally drink Diet Pepsi anyway if I have a soft drink.. The name makes me think of genetic throwbacks. I'll let you know if I start shambling around on all fours.

Happy tambourine guy makes me happy.

ETA: I love everything about this video. KC's earnest crooning at the steadicam operator, his big white pointy collar, the tambourine guy's braces with a short-sleeved shirt, and the song. I even like the remakes by Double You and KWS.

AND a song which, like an out-of-context Big Lebowski quote, rarely applies to anything. Today it fucking does, though. Because it's Friday, August 14th.  :D :D

I have never heard of THROWBACK pop, what's the deal here?

[identity profile] 51stcenturyfox.livejournal.com 2009-08-14 03:11 pm (UTC)(link)
I guess... it's RETRO? No high-fructose corn syrup or synthetic sucrose or whatever they usually put in Pepsi.

It's old school pop.

Tastes... like Pepsi. I am eager to see if I start bouncing off the walls or something.

[identity profile] lionessvalenti.livejournal.com 2009-08-14 03:32 pm (UTC)(link)
My sister said that "throwback" was a bad call for pop, since she reads it as "throw-up" and "backwash". I lol'd.

I'm not a Pepsi drinker, but the Coke made with cane sugar I had was really good. So, real sugar, yay!

[identity profile] 51stcenturyfox.livejournal.com 2009-08-14 04:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Huh. Good point!

Throwback is full of negative connotations. Man. They should have called it Pepsi Cola Retro or something instead. :/

It's tasty. I'll give 'em that!

will have to look out for this new old-fangled pepsi-cola. Our Uni is contracted with pepsi, so there's no coke sold (nay supposed to be SEEN) on campus so maybe it'll show up here before too long.

[identity profile] 51stcenturyfox.livejournal.com 2009-08-14 04:27 pm (UTC)(link)
I think my high school had a deal with Coke. It might have been Pepsi?

It was a huge nationwide deal when it made the news, since they were one of the first to push sponsored cola on the student body for $$$.

[identity profile] smirnoffmule.livejournal.com 2009-08-14 03:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Natural sugar, Foxy? HOLY FUCK D:

And why is it blue? This is not the colour of pepsi. No no no.

[identity profile] 51stcenturyfox.livejournal.com 2009-08-14 04:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Because Coke is the red can soda!

7-Up, I think, is the one which says it has all-natural flavors too, now.

Mountain Dew? I have no idea, but it looks like toxic waste to me. :D

Sign me up for "The Achievers." Shut the fuck up, Donny.

We can fund that documentary with clever product placement of Pepsi Throwback. We'll call it the Pepsi Throwdown.

[identity profile] 51stcenturyfox.livejournal.com 2009-08-14 04:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, definitely!

STFU Donny!<--- should be a tagline.

I see you have Spider's icon! I have to load mine, still.

[identity profile] neifile7.livejournal.com 2009-08-14 04:37 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm on a gank-roll. Which has more than a little in common with a tuna roll. :)

[identity profile] 51stcenturyfox.livejournal.com 2009-08-14 04:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Nothing, and I mean nothing, beats an icon depicting snowmen having oral sex.

[identity profile] 51stcenturyfox.livejournal.com 2009-08-14 05:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Except that. :D

[identity profile] amand-r.livejournal.com 2009-08-14 04:17 pm (UTC)(link)
When you said THROWBACK Pepsi last night, I shit you not, by brain translated that into "Crystal Pepsi" and I was all, O_o? Then I figured well, maybe you got it off ebay and that's like, your thing, and I shouldn't judge you because of your crystal pepsi habit.

But I did. Just a little.

Your fictional Crystal Pepsi Ebay obsession that I made up in my head.

[identity profile] 51stcenturyfox.livejournal.com 2009-08-14 04:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Don't be judgin'. Okay. I will: CRYSTAL PEPSI is the THE DEVIL.

Who thought clear cola was a bang-up idea? I'd like to know.

"New Coke" = Classic WTFery too. I don't even like Coke and I thought that was stupid.

[identity profile] amand-r.livejournal.com 2009-08-14 05:38 pm (UTC)(link)
That neither one of these caught on should be a fucking sign to manufacturers, but they continue to remake old movies. I DON'T NEED TO SEE DROP DEAD FRED AGAIN, PEOPLE.

I like throwback.

For all its brave connotations. There is an ad agency/department that still dares to do the unusual

Certainly catches my eye.

It also sounds like v-play

[identity profile] 51stcenturyfox.livejournal.com 2009-08-14 05:05 pm (UTC)(link)
I do think the design is pretty.

It DID catch my eye in the store. :D

v-play? OH. LORD.

[identity profile] neifile7.livejournal.com 2009-08-14 05:12 pm (UTC)(link)
It certainly would make a fine accompaniment for an RPG.

That's a "reverse peristalsis" game.

[identity profile] amand-r.livejournal.com 2009-08-14 05:39 pm (UTC)(link)
NOW YOU'RE SEEING IT EVERYWHERE.

[identity profile] topgeargirl2.livejournal.com 2009-08-15 09:32 am (UTC)(link)
The can certainly looks great, the name though is very strange.

[identity profile] 51stcenturyfox.livejournal.com 2009-08-15 11:19 am (UTC)(link)
It IS!

I really hit the toothbrush hard last night... not used to having things with sugar instead of fake sweeteners.

[identity profile] topgeargirl2.livejournal.com 2009-08-15 11:30 am (UTC)(link)
Apparently there's 13 cubes of sugar in a bottle of cola.
