I love you, fandom. You are so entertaining that we might not even need a Series 3*. (BITE YOUR TONGUE.)

After a Dalek was discovered in a Hampshire pond and Torchwood dealt with it in their typically professional, effective and sexy manner, [livejournal.com profile] rm and [livejournal.com profile] kalichan decided to form a community to write about it (or you could create art. Haiku? Macros? Whatev).

Voila. [livejournal.com profile] dalekinthepond

From their instructions: This challenge/ficathon is for fics determining how and why the Dalek made it there.

*or maybe we need it as soon as possible because we're all losing our minds.

*rolls*

This was a great idea. I've pimped it on twitter as well.

I'm thinking about a sonnet, myself.

There's The Hub, next weekend (THAT WILL KEEP US GOING FOR AGES XD ), John's show is coming soon, and there'll be at least one of the DW specials, all before June.

But, otherwise, yes, hurry up, show!

I SO wanted to go to The Hub con, but the timing was off for trips to the UK.

You'll do a report/pictures, I hope?

It is!

YOUR ICON. Perfect.

Good question. I thought about making a macro for that last night but couldn't come up with a suitably non fail-y tagline.

Yeah, I'm no good at that shit, either. I am trying to come up with a drabble for the comm, although I am not sanguine as to my abilities at writing non-porn. It's unnatural.

I've got porn and meta and satire and cat macros all jostling for head space right now! It's all TOO MUCH! I need a time out.

You could write Dalek porn. Davros frottage?

I'm scaring myself.

This is the strangest fandom in the history of... everything.

(With the exception of Star Trek. Maybe.)

I just tried to explain to my 72-year-old Mom why it's so side-splittingly hilarious that someone on the internet created a community for people to write stories based in a television scifi show's universe to explain why a real-life tv show prop ended up in a pond in Hampshire.

*takes a breath*

It didn't work very well. ;)

Oh hell, she already knows all about slash and fanfic, I've been talking to her about it for years. She was a bit confused by my Snarry phase, but with Torchwood, she just pats me on the head and lets me rave. The Moms is cool. *grins*

Heh. Yes, I'm in the closet barring friends on LJ, and co-workers with equally time-consuming internet hobbies.

Ayush: "LEVEL FUCKING SIX!"

Us: "STFU. Working over here."

Ayush: (abashed) "Oh, shit. sorry, you guys."

*Minutes pass*

We do need a Series 3! So we can have more kissing and fanvids, clearly.

And I do not think that the silly will stop with S3 coming. :)

I agree, we need at least one more (hopefully a lot more, please, Beeb?) hot boy kissing scene. It's gotta be at LEAST 5 seconds long, so we can stretch that into another year's worth of fanvids, picspam and general Woodie fappage.

I saw a dalek on my way to work this morning. It seemed very small but was definitely a dalek. It was moving along the street towards my local junior school. I blurted out what I had seen in panic to someone once I got to work and was informed, in a response that seemed to be completely unrelated and lacked an apparent grasp on the gravity of the situation, that it is World Book Day and lots of kids had fancy dress day at school.

But I digress.

Dalek haiku, you say?

Ignominious
end for one of such a race:
Algae on eyestalks.

That's the best Dalek haiku I've ever read. It's the first one I've ever read, but you never forget your first Doctor Dalek haiku.

I love that you saw that Dalek this morning.
