Hmmm...if they film in Canada...depending on where, I may have to go visit [livejournal.com profile] thought_ribbons so we can go stalk the set.

Mmm, set reports!

We won't have Alun Vega to take pics (except for the Cardiff parts -- and I really hope some Cardiff appears on Torchwood!) So, good plan!

Thing is, if they film in Canada, they may not film in Wales. One of the great things about filming up there is you can find locations that mimic almost anywhere. Look at Supernatural. They film almost exclusively in Canada for locations that are supposed to be all over the US.

Yeah, true.

I know Tom Price was excited about filming, and I don't know if he'll be "Andy the Cardiff police officer" or doing something else for Torchwood in S4, so I'm thinking they MIGHT film some things in Cardiff.

They've already got BBC Wales there, so it's not like they have to really spend extra like filming elsewhere. (But yeah, I'm not sure.)

Until we get some official word, no one knows. Even Eve doesn't seem all that sure of where they are going in that article.

Maybe they're going to film somewhere totally different. Like DC! The Myles family can crash at my place!

Poor doggie! I'm surprised they won't film in Cardiff again - I thought that would be the cheapest solution. I seriously DON'T want a Torchwood populated with Canadian forests (see: Stargate)

The X-Files was good when shot in Canada! Maybe that "good sci-fi show" luck'll rub off. :D

True - and we don't know where the new Torchwood will even be set, maybe their new base *is* in Canada? Makes you wonder how/why Gwen moved there, though. I'll miss Cardiff :(

In one of his reports a few weeks back, Michael Ausiello at TVGuide.com did say that some filming would take place in LA. He's usually on the money, so we'll see.

I do think there will be some Cardiff involved (and of course some Welsh actors!)

I actually wonder if they could imitate something like the Brecon Beacons in Canada because that IS fairly unique.

But hmm. (And Barrowman is taking partner & dogs, so I lol that she says she can't take the dog)

She is! She got him a passport!

A lot of UK people are concerned at the idea of traveling with dogs, because up until recently, you had to put them in quarantine when you came back to the UK with them, since there is no rabies there.

Of course, you can just give dogs shots for rabies, so... no problem, really.

exactly, I always watch the Brits being so happy that a simple shot and a stamp in the dog's passport is enough nowadays :D

I'm sure they're treated fine in quarantine, but it's so hard to leave them in there. :(

Having looked into it it works easiest if your dogs are handbag sized because as soon as they are bigger than that it's quite the expensive little trip not that ... money is an issue, I guess.

Yeah, I paid $170 to ship a dog from the UK in the hold area, not in a carrybag, yes. (Moving, not on a vacation.)

But my husband's employer paid that, so.

It's a biiiig country. Betcha could. The shots of the Brecons looks a fair bit like Newfoundland, to me.

Actually the interesting thing about centering the filming in Vancouver is that you have access to a lot of different geographies within only an hour or two's drive. For example, the northern tip of the Mojave desert extends into the interior of the province, on the non-rainy side of the mountains.

From what we've heard it seems reasonable to assume filming will be in multiple locations, and from these dates/numbers looks like they'll be starting with the non-Cardiff locations first. Which means we'll get a raft of "I'm sad there won't be any more Cardiff" tedium which we have no reason to believe is accurate at this point.

Well, Eve's sadly mistaken if she thinks Torchwood's the most popular Science Fiction show in the US.(Considering most people still look at me blankly when I mention Torchwood!) But this is great news! I was worried the show would have Jack on one side of the Atlantic, and Gwen on the other (with very little airtime) but obviously they'll be working together.

As for location, as much as I wish it would be Toronto (closer to me!) I bet it'll be Vancouver, which is closer to RTD etc.

Yeah... I think it's not really that popular as the genre goes. The most popular on BBC America, maybe. :D

I think that's the case for the Canada location. There are a lot of fans I know in Toronto, so that's really too bad. :/ (Really want to visit Toronto one day!)

And yay for Jack and Gwen working together!

Every other sci fi on the planet seems to film here in Vancouver, so why not them? Come, Torchwood, and enjoy our polite people and our beautifully diffuse coastal light that is so perfect for filming scenes of angst and moodiness! Maybe they can find yet another way to use the bizarre-looking bomb-shelter inspired buildings of Simon Fraser University: http://tentativeequinox.files.wordpress.com/2008/08/sfu-reflecting-pool1.jpg I've lost count of how many shows I've seen that building in.

Pointless claim to fame? When I was (briefly) a grad student at SFU, my office was up there. I think you can actually see it in that picture. Famous window, I had it once! I think that was the high point of being a grad student there.

I'd totally stalk the film sets, and bring good coffee for anyone who wanted to join me. Who's in?
