I didn't get around to posting thoughts on The Eleventh Hour, but I LOVED IT. I went in wanting to like Eleven and Amy Pond and I really did.
From
doctorwho : Conservative UK press wanks about Amy's short skirt in the first episode of the new series. Fans, predictably, bring the LOL W/E! at how ridiculous this is. (Nice one, SFX Magazine. Not even subliminal.)
Also, I really liked the TARDIS; the 80's clock radio flip numerals (I HAD that clock in school!), the integrated typewriter... it's like the TARDIS rebuilt itself based on the idea that the Doctor went to Earth a lot, so put all of these little EARTH THINGS in it.
Really silly little thing, but I dig the fact that in the first episodes of the new series of Doctor Who and Torchwood, we have female leads running around the corridors of a hospital where they shouldn't be, chasing and being chased by an alien, dressed in copper clothes. :D :D
The other OTHER things are the dated staff badge Rory (the Raggedy Doctor forced cosplayer himself) has (issued 1990? WHAT. That doesn't make sense with the technology in the show being present-day and his age.
Speaking of technology, Geoff's "MΨth" brand computer is interesting. The "Ψ" is the Greek Psi - kind of a common sci-fi shorthand for, well, a lot of things. Plus, it was on some of the hospital tech. Obvious pointing. Yay for mytharcs! (or mΨtharcs.)

...makes cosplay easier, doesn't it?
