Following today's fandom!secret on this topic, some questions about... foreskins!

Here's the secret someone posted:

Do they have a point? I was going to do a poll, but LJ is being very naughty about polls.

What are your thoughts? Should fic writers mention foreskins more often (for characters who are likely to be uncut?)  Do you not need or want this detail? Do you assume they're there anyway, depending on how you imagine the characters and who they are? Is this something you've never really considered, either way?

Do you not give a hot damn?

ELVES?  VAMPIRES?  HOBBITS??? I don't even know.

Are you pretty sure Jack Harkness has a fiveskin? Because I am.

ETA: Thank you to my f-list (unlike the F!S thread) for not being judgey about people's parts. Every cock is pretty!

Yeah in Torchwood there is good reason not to - but I think in my head, Ianto was sort of all "condoms are important!" at first, particularly because he wasn't that experienced with guys. And had a girlfriend. (He may have only wanted them for anal though rather than oral... it's an interesting thought, if he'd be thorough enough to be consistent with that or if it wouldn't actually occur to him.)

Yeah, it even depends on when you think Jack and Ianto started up with the penetrative action. Sex ed or no, most people don't use condoms for oral, EVER.

I can buy that they did a lot of non-penetrative stuff, actually. Not every gay man or bi-curious guy is having anal sex or likes to. I quite like the idea that they do tons of other stuff (and should write more frottage and hand jobs.)

And if we take his claim that it's just Jack at face value, then as a previously presumed straight man in his first male/male sexual relationship Ianto's fairly likely to be a bit hesitant, and I think Jack is the type to actually be really respectful of that - he would try to push his partners horizons broader, but I think he has the ability to tell between someone being okay with a bit of persuasion and reassurance and someone who's really actually very uncomfortable. Having been a conman and all.
