In which I teel deer ego-dump commentary about a whole year's worth of fic.

Most proud of:  Finishing the John Hart/Jack Time Agency arc. I love holes in canon and figuring things out, and I did everything I set out to do with these stories -- explain how Jack and John met, what the Time Agency Academy was like and why they have this screwed-up relationship and every single unexplained reference made (Bikini Cops? Rear of the Year? SORTED).

My favorite story of this year:  Mission of Mercy. I think it's my best John Hart/Time Agency story.  It's quite short and spare, but I like it a lot.

My best story this year: Fearnought, because it's Gwen. And it's coat fetish fic. And most of all because [livejournal.com profile] neifile7  co-wrote and made it work.

Story most underappreciated by the universe, in my opinion: Eh. On one hand, I'm happy to get *one* comment on a story, so I can't say anything's underappreciated if someone liked it enough to comment. But if pressed, I have to say What Time Do You Get Off? Since everyone wanks and Jack watches and I found kind of rare pics of the settings and Suzie makes Jack lick her fingers afterward. So I kind of love that one a lot. Coz I've got a filthy mind!

Most fun story:
Great Balls Afire, since [livejournal.com profile] blue_fjords ' prompt was really, really hilarious. :D So that, and Two Moon Tango, because it's an off-world adventure and someone commented to tell me it reminded them of  Doctor Who comics/Grant Morrison's stuff. WHICH MADE MY MONTH.

Hardest story to write: Asleep At The Switch. It was my first Doctor Who story, for a fic exchange, and threesome bodyswap. So it was hard on a technical level -- who's doing what where? -- and on a personal level I was afraid no one would like it or think it was funny/hot.

"Holy crap, that's *wrong*, even for you" story:  I have few fic scruples, so... yeah, okay, the one where the Face of Boe makes the Doctor travel back to present-day Cardiff and do Jack. That was sort of a low. :D Wait, no. The Tosh/Rhys. Dude. It was for a porn batlle, ok? Nobody else has ever written that, AFAIK. For good reason.

Story that shifted my own perceptions of the characters: Three Proverbs. Well, I always actually thought Tosh was sexy and awesome, and I did fail at my initial goal here, which was a Tosh/Jack/Ianto threesome, but I think I gave her more agency here and it made me respect her even more. I'm not a fan of "Tosh moons over Owen and has nothing else going on and she always loses" fic.

Biggest disappointment: I failed at writing a Big Bang story, even though I had what I thought was a pretty good idea. I fail at longfic. Or maybe I just fail at Owenfic.

Biggest surprise:  The Assist. Rhys/Ianto/Gwen. Where the hell did that come from?  Oh yeah, a kinkmeme prompt! ILU kinkmeme!

Sexiest story: ??? I don't know. Judging from feedback, probably Tell Me. I like dirty talk.

I most appreciate all the much-needed help from betas this year, and story art from [livejournal.com profile] laurab1  and [livejournal.com profile] copperbadge , and [livejournal.com profile] filthgoblin 's podfic of Fearnought.  Most of all, I appreciate all of the feedback received. Thanks so much for letting me know if you liked something or if you thought it needed development/offered some concrit or whatever.  :)

I love these fic roundups because they make it so easy to go back and snag old stories... My goal in 2010 is to actually be a Good Reader. So far so good--

I LOVE THAT COAT FIC omg that was the hottest thing! I embarrassed myself over that--I didn't know you very well yet and I loved that so and got all hot-faced over my squeeage. I was afraid you thought I had a screw loose or something. (not that I don't !)

LOL.

Awesome! I do think your Great Balls Afire is the most amazing fic ever. But that coat story? Yeah. Just... Mmmm... LOL.

Yeah, I was really happy with the way that one came out. Anya and I struggled over it quite a bit! (But it was good collaboration, not a bad sort of struggle.)

Oh, you just like Great Balls Afire just because it sort of has an actual plot! :D

Okay, we get to chime in, right?

Favorite, pride, and best honors for me will always go to Closure, because you took everything you'd done in the TA series (and yep, Mission of Mercy was a big part of that) and gave it this twist that made it even more plausible, sadder and also more beautiful. For me, it's your definitive Jack/John story and one of my absolute faves anywhere this year.

You need a funniest fic category here, which would have a lot of contenders, but I'll pick A Notional Rescue because it nearly sent me to the ER when I snorted pinot grigio in the reading. I BLAME FOXY was born that night. :)

Three Proverbs was one of the biggest surprises for me (because I was expecting the 3some!) and remains second only to Closure in my affections.

Sexiest? Well, where's the love for Desk Set/Initial Velocity?? Actually, I think the two sexiest moments of all were the Suzie finger-licking (guh) and Gwen's undressing scene in Fearnought -- all yours, bb, and a month's worth of bunk material.

Aww, it makes me so happy that you liked A Notional Rescue. That was a blast to write. :D

Closure is up there for me, too. I don't even know.

NAH you made Fearnought sexy! I do like Desk Set... it was written hastily for a battle, so I always think... yeah, maybe I should have had a beta on it.

Well I can't say that if you wrote it I wouldn't take it. :D (I bet John would take it too. Slut that he is.)

Owen is hard for ME to write. Maybe it's a practice thing, since I hardly ever do it.

I like paperclipbitch's Owen, and wiredblowfish writes him well.
