International Talk Like A Pirate Day

"I'm not hurting anybody if I burn 100,000 copies of Windows Vista and sell them on Alibaba.com. I think I'll just label them 'Vesta', which is, you know, totally different. I'm not infringing any copyrights."

*clicks*

"By the way, do you like movies? If you like, I can throw in a copy of Angles and Demons. Sorry about the aspect ratio."

*dusts hands*

Every day at TIFF is Talk Like A Pirate Day, because there are anti-piracy warnings before every screening. The done thing is for the audience to go "ARRR!" at the screen in unison.

Or at least, I assumed this was the done thing, until someone seated near me yesterday said loudly, "That's so last year."

GEEZ.

Hipsters. Pffft!

(But I actually like that. I might try it the next time I see one of those warnings.)

I will have to ask Snaxi if either the "ARRR!" or the ARRR-disdain are temporary aberrations in the collective consciousness. Plainly this is a matter of utmost anthroplogical import.

I plan to ARRRR! all day long, regardless.
