Oh no... I don't consider this this topic to be wanky, 'coz it's not harshing squee. :D I was thinking more along the lines of ship!wank and "people who like Ianto/Owen are insaaaaane", etc.
I do tend to think that a lot of the refusal to write Jack/Gwen is masked by the excuse that "Gwen is married, and Rhys is so awesome!" If Ianto was married and his wife was awesome, I bet there'd still be "Janto." ;)
I believe you are correct. Maybe there would be more JacOwen. Harkper? O God.
Rhys is pretty awesome, though. I do feel sort of bad for him when I write Gwen/Other.
I still do it, though! Because he's fictional! :)
And yes on Gwen's traits. Though it might have been different if Suzie had remained on the team, since she apparently didn't have a partner.
