I wasn't a big fan of Angel, but I dearly loved Lorne. He and Doyle were the best things on the show. I loved the moral stance Lorne took in the final episode.
Ah damn. I loved his character, even if I thought Angel the show got kind of silly with all the demon dimensions. But, Lorne was very cool and this is very sad. :(
Oh my goodness! Can't say I knew much about the actor, but I was so impressed by how he took what was initially a minor phlebotenum-dispensing character and made him into something complex and sympathetic.
His understated disgust in the final ep, it was powerful. It added a necessary ballast to the complex question that the episode, and really the whole series, was dealing with. A lot of that is down to the writers, but the actor gave it real weight.
If it weren't for Lorne, I never would have watched Angel. He was my favourite character. And everything I heard about Andy showed him to be a caring, wonderful person.
Blimey. That was unexpected. He was great in that show, and a stunning actor and vocal performer. It's crazy that something as simple as a dental infection can lead to such a catastrophic condition and such a premature death.
I will go look at the vid when I get home. But that's very sad indeed. Rest peacefully, Andrew.
I'd read a couple of different interviewers that said Andy was the type of genuinely nice person that is an endangered animal in Hollywood. And his portrayal of Lorne was always what the show needed to lend it levity or sometimes, much needed believable pathos. I'd always hoped to see him again in something that showcased those unbelievable pipes and warm eyes.
This is such sad news. I can't believe he was so young - or that he was even younger playing Lorne, he had a fantastic on-screen presence. I second the sleep tight - and the thank you.
I always feel bad when something like this happens going, "Oh damn, I loved that character," when the poor man has friends and family who have been left with a gaping hole. But I guess it was what he brought to the world, and what he loved doing. He had amazing energy.

Me too, but I think he would have liked to be remembered for this role, too. He really tore it up.
