This is something I was thinking about yesterday. I've always been a fan of various stuff so I thought I'd look back.

It started in the 1970s, with The Hardy Boys. (Now immortalized, but stupidly, on South Park. "OMG I'M GETTING A CLUE!"  - Trey Parker and Matt Stone are my age, so they totally remember this show.)

When I was little - six, The Hardy Boys/Nancy Drew Mysteries (the television program) was my first fandom. :D   If I was playing outside (my mom would holler for me) or doing something else, the second I realized it was TIME FOR HARDY BOYS, my parents had betta recognize I had to be in front of the big fucking television console staring at the screen, and nobody better try to talk to me or even breathe too loud.  I had a crush on Shaun Cassidy, the Justin Bieber of the 70's, and my mom favored Parker Stevenson.  (SHE WOULD.)  Shaun Cassidy is the half-brother of Partridge Family star David Cassidy, but he was too old and my cousins liked him, so... EW.

(Whereas of course Shaun somehow magically wasn't too old for me even though I was six.)

I had a Shaun face t-shirt and an IRON ON PILLOWCASE.  Maybe I kissed it goodnight. AHAHAHAHA.

Look at these GQMF crime-solving brothers!  If there was Hincest, I don't want to know. Please don't break my childhood.

I also wanted to be Nancy Drew, for the record. If this show debuted now, I'd be all Joe/Frank/Nancy OT3 (Screw you, Ned Nickerson.)

I SAID Jane Espenson from Buffy the Vampire Slayer's writing team would be working on Torchwood Series Four and I WAS RIGHT.  I was right because she'll be at Gallifrey One. YES. OH YES. I love being right.

AND JOHN SHIBAN from the X-Files. OH, BABY!  Doris Egan! Rah!

This is from the Chicago Tribune.

Russell T Davies has firmed up the writing staff for the fourth season of "Torchwood," which debuts in the summer of 2011 on Starz.

Torchwood Davies, who created the "Doctor Who" spinoff, will of course write several episodes of the 10-part series, but other writers for Season 4 include John Shiban ("Breaking Bad," "Supernatural," "The X-Files"), Doris Egan ("House," "Tru Calling," "Dark Angel'), Jane Espenson ("Game of Thrones," "Battlestar Galactica," "Buffy") and John Fay (a U.K. "Torchwood" writer).

The writers are currently hard at work on the new season of the show, which tells an international story and feature the kind of serialized, overarching story line featured in "Torchwood: Children of Earth," the miniseries that put the cult sci-fi series on the map when BBC America aired it in 2009.

Well, obviously.

Actor James Marsters has revealed he is keen to reprise his role of bisexual Captain John in the forthcoming new season of Torchwood. Marsters played the former lover of Captain Jack (John Barrowman) in two episodes of the Doctor Who spin-offs second season and was well received by fans in the role. The actor has spoken of his desire to return to Torchwood for its fourth season which will be co-produced by the BBC and Starz.

"Russell T. Davies is over here in LA trying to get an American version of it done. If he doesn't call me, I am going to find him. I'm into it, just ask Russell" Marsters quoted on io9.

In a recent poll by ATV Today on what our readers want to see happen in the next season of Torchwood a return by Captain John came top. It was recently revealed that Marsters will return to Smallville for its final season and will also appear in the second half of Caprica, the Battlestar Galactica prequel, continuing in the role of terrorist leader Barnabus.
