Hit and run post with some... interrelated things. Sort of.

Grant Morrison's interview at the Onion's AV Club today is great, especially if you write/like transformative works (and Grant just rules anyway). Yes, working on Batman is different than fanfic, and yet...

"These characters come complete with an ancestry, and I guess that’s what fascinates me about them. The notion of the DC Universe itself, which is 75 years deep or whatever, is interesting. It’s a place, but it’s also a sustained story that’s lasted for such a long time and has outlived even its creators. So going in there and getting to play with the inhabitants is quite interesting. And I think the history of them and being able to create new strands for them and new opportunities for them is equally interesting. It’s like a science experiment. "

another link, and I don't remember where on my f-list I saw this, but I've had it open for a while before I had the chance to read it:

Why Does Porn Matter?

It can remind us that, no matter what our sexual thoughts and desires are, chances are someone else is having them, too. It can make us feel more comfortable with our sexuality. It can make us feel like we have permission to explore our sexuality, in fantasy or in the flesh or both.

And on that note. PORN BATTLEDoctor Who/Torchwood. May 29-30 Themes are: Water, Crossdressing, and Oral Sex.

Bring it!

That porn blog is brilliant and very relevant. I've found, since I started exploring fandom and reading/writing porn, that I've become a lot more comfortable with my own sexuality, and with discussing sex with my husband (and I think 'the talk' with my daughter went a lot smoother than it would have two years ago which is important because if I'm comfortable, she's comfortable and she'll come to me with questions). So yay for porn!

And YAY for Porn Battles!! *eyes very-close-to-being-late fest fics woefully* Must resist urge to write something!

I completely agree, about communication (and that is GREAT, about "the talk".) Human beings have no problem discussing things like... our favorite foods/recipes; everybody eats food. But most people enjoy intimacy or have fantasies and never talk about it with anybody, including their own partners.

Which is really pretty odd, if you think about it.

BATTLE! Yep! I'll wait 'til that Saturday morning to write mine. It's a tradition! :)

Grant Morrison! *blinks, looks at other comments* Err- porn!

My relationship to Morrison is like my relationship to Jeph Loeb. They're two of the biggest writers in DC, they do some of the most important canon stuff to the biggest characters... but the things they do sometimes just feels like, "Hyuk hyuk hyuk, let's throw in EARTH 3 Superman fighting like, a DINOSAUR because it'd be like, SUPER COOL!" Baby Terry can explain it a lot better than I can.

Damn, I won't be here for porn battle, i have a con that weekend! *shake fist!*

LOL. Recycled materials. HARSH!

"Hyuk hyuk hyuk, let's throw in EARTH 3 Superman fighting like, a DINOSAUR because it'd be like, SUPER COOL!"

I know, because I do the same shit. For serious. "Let's put Gwen and Captain John on another planet and they're at a karaoke bar doing shots and they have sex!"

I'm evil, Jean.

My promo battle poster is not as good as yours would be, I feel quite certain. ;)

Loved the pron link, which brought back happy and embarrassing memories! And is dead on.

We must therefore go froth and pronify. :) All three prompts in a blender?

Oh, wow. The Why Does Porn Matter article -- I felt that same relief at the author's 'confession,' or almost, because mine are worse (what's 'worse?' More psychologically complex or something). I have so many stories that I can't imagine ever telling. Though I think I'll have to select some tamer elements for the battle!

Loved the article you linked. I've tried to explain this to people off and on, and now I have a link to send to people.

Yay for aporn battle! As usual, i will intend to participate, and whether or not I do remains to be seen. But I'll be thinking porny thought from now until then, at the very least.
