I think its the freak out thing. When threatened like that (your child, your only child) you sometimes dont think logically. I think thats actually part of why its so good, because we can see it and he cant, because he's right in the middle of it, and that psycho knows it. Instead of being clearheaded about it, he does the only thing he can, and its tragic because it never mattered, and we know it, and his daughter WILL know it, and the psycho knows it, and is STILL playing his game. (which was fucking great I think, like oh shit, he's gotten this guy to kill himself, and he's already moved onto the next fun thing, in fucking custody no less!)
