Yes, I think he knows how far he can push people; you don't work it successfully as a conman and fail to learn this. (Though how successful he is isn't really clear... I have a feeling Jack was better at it.) THOUGH you know - they both did mess up in fairly spectacular ways with the Chula and the diamonds.)
